Tour A1: Vatican City (all year, except Sundays and Catholic Holidays) MONOLINGUAL in English

You will travel by private bus to Vatican City. In the Vatican Museum, you will be shown a fine collection of antiques. The visit includes: the Pio-Clementino halls (the Laocoon and Apollo Belvedere), the Candelabra Gallery, the fascinating Tapestry Gallery, the Gallery of Maps, the world famous Sistine Chapel, decorated by Michelangelo. The tour will then proceed to St. Peter’s Basilica where you will view the art treasures of the largest Roman Catholic Church in the world, including Michelangelo’s Pietà. Return to hotels.

IMPORTANT: Guided tours of St. Peter’s are not allowed if religious ceremonies are taking place inside or outside the Basilica. Visitors wearing shorts or sleeveless tops are not admitted to churches. For clients in wheelchairs the museum obliges them to do a different route which does not allow them to follow the same itinerary of the organized tour. It is absolutely forbidden to bring into the museum backpacks, umbrellas, or metal objects.

Tour B1: Rome of the Caesars (daily) MONOLINGUAL in English

You will be taken to Piazza Venezia, where you will see the imposing memorial to Victor Emanuel II. The tour will then proceed to the Roman Forum, where the Senate House, the basilicas, and the temples of the major gods are located. After walking down the Via Sacra and passing by the Arch of Titus, you will visit the Coliseum, surrounded by impressive monuments such as the ruins of the Arch of Constantine the Great. The last stop on your tour will be the 5th century Christian Basilica of St. Peter;s in Chain, where you will see the world famous statute of Moses by Michelangelo. At the end of the tour, stop in the “Virtual Museum of Ancient Rome” for a virtual journey through Imperial Rome. A 30 minute show will give you a better understanding of the magnificent archeological sites that you see walking around Rome today. Important: From November 1st tp March 31st, due to the earlier closing time of the Roman Forum, the visit and the commentary will be operated from the hilltop of the Capitol, in addition to the breathtaking view of the whole Archeological area, without missing the amazing walk alongside the Imperial Forums of Nerva, Augustus, Trajan, and Caesar.

Tour C1: Villa Borghese (all year, Tue, Thur, & Sun) MONOLINGUAL in English

A “must” in Rome – apart from the usual tours – is Villa Borghese, in itself worth a trip to Italy. Our tour starts at the Borghese Gallery, renowned for centuries as “the sovereign of all private art collections: with masterpieces that the Borgheses (Pope Paul V belonged to that family) have amassed in their tasteful summer residence since 1600. Bernini as a sculptor, Raphael, Caravaggio, Tiziano, are just some of the highlights of an incredible wealth of art, ranging from ancient Rome up to the Neoclassical style, the latter epitomized by Canova’s famous nude of Paolina Bonaparte. The second part of the tour will be outdoors, through the delightful Borghese Park, the Pincio Terrazza with its breath-taking view, the Spanish Steps down to Piazza di Spagna, the heart of a paradise for fashion conscious shoppers and selective gourmets. From this central point most of the hotels are at walking distance or easily reachable. Our guide will be at your disposal for directions or any advice.

Villa Borghese Park – St. Angel’s Castle –St. Peter’s Square – St. Peter’s Basilica (visit) to admire, among others, the Pietà by Michelangelo. Piazza Navona (visit), with the Four Rivers Fountain, Bernini’s masterpiece, the Pantheon (visit), built in the 1st Century b.C. with the widest dome in the world. –Piazza Colonna with the Column of Marcus Aurelius – the famous Trevi Fountain (visit). Return to the hotel or nearest point.

Tour 2: Ancient Rome (daily, in the afternoon)

Visit Quirinal Square, with the Presidential Palace as well as Piazza Venezia towered by the imposing “Vittoriano”. The Capitol square, a unique treasure of history and art, where Michelangelo’s noble architecture blends with Roman times masterpieces. The view from there over the Roman Forum, the most fascinating archeological area in the world, will leave you breathless. “The Coliseum “visit”, the most famous monument ever built symbol itself of Rome’s majesty and eternity.” St. Paul’s –outside-the-walls (visit) built where the Apostle of the People is buried. Tour 3: Artistic Rome (daily in the morning, except Sunday and Catholic Holidays)

Crossing the Aurelian Walls and the Park of Villa Borghese, we reach the Vatican Museums. During the visit you will admire: the Pio-Clementino halls, replenished with Roman masterpieces, like the Laocoon or the Torso and Apollo Belvedere, the Candelabra Gallery, the beautiful Tapestry Gallery, the interesting cartographic study in the Maps Gallery and, above all, the Sistine Chapel, where Popes are elected, with the famous Genesis, and Last Judgment by Michelangelo, recently restored. Tour 4: Christian Rome (daily in the afternoon)

Piazza Barberini with the Triton Fountain by Bernini. “St. Mary Major (visit) the most beautiful Basilica dedicated to Mary Mother of Christ with gorgeous mosaics and the relics of Jesus’ cradle.” St. John’s in Lateran (visit) cathedral of Rome and first Papal residence with masterpieces from Middle Ages to Baroque. Stop at the Holy Stairs. Through the first part of the Appian Way, with a view at the Domine Quo Vadis Chapel, we reach the Catacombs (visit), the ancient underground cemeteries and extraordinary expression of faith of the early Christians. Tour 5: Tivoli (all year, Tue, Thu, Sat, and Sun: Nov to March in the morning; Apr to Oct in the afternoon)
After an approximately 45 minutes drive we reach Adrin’s Villa (visit), the largest and most luxurious country residence of all times with its gorgeous array of imperial palaces, thermal baths, temples, theatres, and pools. A short drive will take us to Tivoli where we will visit Villa D’Este, one of the most enchanting of the late Renaissance, home of Lucretia Borgia’s son, famous for its gardens, marvelous fountains, waterfalls, and centenary trees. Tour 6: Roman Countryside & Wine Tasting (April to October, Monday and Saturday in the afternoon)

Castelgandolfo (stop), the summer residence of the Pope with a view of his famous lake – Albano, former Albalonga, where Rome founders came from – Ariccia with a breathtaking bridge – Rocca di Papa- Grottaferrata – Frascati. The tour is concluded at a 14th century hamlet, built over a Roman road, nowadays operated by a prestigious wine and olive oil maker. There you will be treated at a tasting of the house products and also led through the historical section of the farm and through the various phases of the birth of a great “DOC” wine. Tour 6a: Papal Blessing in Castel Gandolfo (July to August, Sunday in the morning)

Through the Villa Borghese gardens and after crossing the Tiber we reach St. Peter’s Square. Short stop to admire the Basilica and, along the Lungotevere, the Tiberine Island, the Circus Maximus, Caracalla Baths, and the Old Appian Way, we drive up to Castelgandolfo, where you will attend the Papal Blessing and listen to the words that the Pope used to address the faithful. Tour 7: Papal Audience in St. Peter’s (all year, unless Pope is absent. Wednesdays in the morning)

After crossing the Villa Borghese gardens and passing in front of Castel Sant’Angelo, the ancient Popes Fortress, we reach St. Peter’s Square where, accompanied by the guide, you will be admitted to the Papal Audience. After a hopeful message pronounced in various languages, his Holiness will impart his blessing.

Tour 10: Ancient Ostia (April to October, Tue and Fri in the morning)

Something really special to crown your roman holidays: at only 30 minutes distance from the Capital, an extraordinary archeological site, as important and exciting as Pompeii awaits us the impressive excavations of Ancient Ostia. This was the city harbor founded by ancient Romans, at the mouth of the Tiber, which had been flooded over was discovered only recently. Its remnants are thus better preserved than in Rome itself and offer us an extraordinary testimonial of roman civilization along its whole evolution. By walking through the ancient roads we will plunge straight into the past everyday life of a refined and dynamic city where the culture for arts and pleasures was sovereign.  You will admire in fact the ruins of majestic public buildings, like temples, theatres, for a or basilicas, as well as of the private ones, like houses, shops, inns, workshops, and so on, ranging from the sumptuous to the humblest. Just one hour drive from Rome, one of the most famous Outlet Shopping Centers is located. It features nearly 120 discount outlet stores with a great selection of some of the most important brand names of the Italian and international fashion. Departure back to Rome will be at 12:30P.M. (on Sunday) and at 7:00PM (on Friday), respectively.
